Morton Musiker, 96, died peacefully on June 21, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mort, as he was known, was a most kind and generous man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. His legacy is his gift of unequivocal love and sincere interest in everyone he knew. Mort was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, his parents, a sister, Ethel (Musiker) Schwartz and a brother, Leonard Musiker. He is survived by his four children, Sandy Angelini (Paul), Brian Musiker (Lori), Susan Bellis (Doug) and Helene Hoffman (Cary), ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mort was born June 7, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA., son of Benjamin and Goldie (Pollock) Musiker. Except for his time in the Navy, he lived his entire life in Philly, with retirement winters in Lake Worth, FL.
During World War II, Mort served in the United States Navy. He was stationed in the South Pacific as part of the admiral’s support staff. After his military service, he worked many years as the owner of a children’s clothing store.
While on military leave, Mort married his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life, Gladys (Spirt) Musiker. They spent more than 72 years happily married until her death in 2018. Family and friends were most important to them, but they also enjoyed the many trips and countries they visited, especially Alaska, Italy, and Israel.

In his early years, Mort was an excellent baseball player, enjoyed bowling, and was later a very good tennis player which he played until he was 85. He was a lifelong sports fanatic who loved rooting for all the Philly teams. Mort loved playing poker with his friends and was an accomplished bridge player.

Family time was the best time for Mort. Beach trips, badminton in the yard, and ice cream runs were not to be missed. Meals with his family, which always included boisterous discussions and jokes, were always followed by his most favorite activity, playing games with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his honor may be made to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or to the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
