Thomas F. Hannigan

“Tom”
8/23/38 – 5/6/2020

Thomas F. Hannigan passed away on May 6, 2020. He was the loving husband to Edith A. Hannigan (nee Paul), who predeceased him in 2016. He is survived by his children Colleen, Kimberly, and Thomas, and also his four loving step-children, Edward J. McCaney (Lynn), Kathleen L. McCaney, Edith A. Durkalec (Mark), and Heather L. Roush (Thomas). Heather predeceased him in 2018.

He was a loving Grandfather to Kaitlin, Edward, Justin, Melanie, Daniel, Thomas, Lindsay, Mark and Jenna and two great-grandsons, Thomas and Ronan.

Tom was born to James Hannigan and Kathryn (nee Howell) on August 23, 1938. He was predeceased by his sister Joan and brother James and survived by his sisters Carol and Kathryn.

Tom worked as an Aerospace Engineer for General Electric/Lockheed Martin for most of his career until he retired in 1999. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially his Philadelphia Eagles. We were so happy he was able to see them win a Superbowl in his lifetime! He always joked, “Now I can die, the Eagles finally won the Super Bowl!” That was Tom’s sense of humor. Old movies, John Wayne and “Game of Thrones” were among the few of Tom’s favorite things to watch, when not watching some kind of sport.

His favorite place to be was Holly Lake Resort, in Dennisville, NJ before retirement on weekends, and then living there permanently after. He and Mom were one of the originals at Holly Lake in 1989, and he made many new and life-long friends at Holly Lake. He was always asked to help do repairs or build something by neighbors or the management. He could fix anything! He made Mom’s deck look beautiful with the many beautiful flowers he planted every spring; his flower gardens and planters were his pride and joy. He will surely be missed by his friends at Holly Lake and his entire family and friends. Rest easy Tom.

Due to the COVID crisis, no memorial/luncheon plans can be made at this time. Private services will be held for immediate family. We will update everyone when we all can gather, share some stories and many laughs, and raise a toast to a LIFE WELL LIVED!
