On September 5, 2020, Rosalie Taylor (nee Larr) lost her courageous fight with carcinoma that she had battled strongly against for 3 years. Rose was a lifelong Philadelphia resident, residing in Fox Chase and also had strong ties to the Southwest section of the city. She was loved more than words can tell by her daughter Andrea Hewitt (Timothy) and her grandson, George Schmidt III who she was extremely proud of. Rose is survived by her dear brother Ted Larr (Pat) as well as her nephew Patrick Larr (Eileen) and their children Kelly, Caitlyn and Edward. Rose is also survived by her cousin Jean Harmes (Peter), whom she was always very close to. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Harry and Rosalie Larr, as well as her younger brother Benjamin Larr.
Rose was a 1963 graduate of Frankford HS and retired from the Teamster’s Health and Welfare Fund, where she worked for 23 years. She was a long standing member of the LAOH Div. 25 as well as the Elk’s Lodge. She was a true Philadelphia girl and always fun to be around, over the years going to Mummer’s and St. Patrick’s Day Parades, Eagles and Phillies games and concerts, her last to see Barbra Streisand with her daughter, a lifelong dream. Her true love however was the Jersey Shore, having spent a lifetime of summers in both North Wildwood and Sea Isle City. She will always be remembered by many on the deck singing to Marvin Gaye.
In addition to her family, Rose will be sorely missed by many of her friends. She had many lifelong girlfriends who she absolutely adored, and they were a positive lifeline during a difficult time and really showed the meaning of a true friend.
Funeral arrangements will be determined at a later date.
