Patricia (nee Hoon) Stojak Powell passed away May 14, 2020, a week before her 81st birthday, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, while in hospice care, surrounded by her loving family.

Pat valiantly lived with/fought Stage 4 lung cancer for almost 3 years. Pat leaves her daughter Patti Kearins and husband John; daughter Jo Anne Stojak-Duncan; son Fred Stojak and his wife Janet; Bapchi to Raymond Fairman III and Delaney Kelly and her husband Bobby; sister Rose Bolio.

Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred Stojak, who died tragically in a car accident on Christmas Eve 1976, when Pat was only 37 years old leaving her with three teenagers to raise. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Jim Powell, who died of leukemia after only 14 months of marriage. Additionally, she was predeceased by her parents Chester and Rose Hoon and brother Earl Hoon.

Despite the challenges Pat faced in life, her beautiful smile, bubbly personality and infectious laugh were the first things you’d notice about her. She touched many with her personality and passion for life. Those who knew her will never forget her. For over 40 years, in honor of her late husband, Fred, she hosted a Christmas Eve open house serving Polish food, lots of libations, laughter and love. Although she wasn’t feeling well this past Christmas, she insisted on “having Christmas Eve.”

Pat loved people, the beach, traveling with her cousins, rose bushes, sweets, shopping at Boscov’s, the Phillies, and much to the chagrin of her family, the Dallas Cowboys. She will be dearly missed.

Interment will be private. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial Mass and a luncheon to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at a later date.
