After a long battle with aggressive small cell lung cancer, Michael Charles Pinnel passed away peacefully at his home in Mayfair on August 5, 2020 surrounded by his immediate family. He was 71 years old.
Michael was a native of Philadelphia who enjoyed watching Sunday afternoon NASCAR races and cheering on the Phillies and Eagles all while spending quality time with his family and friends. Humble to a fault, he was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need, even if that meant tearing him away from completing his beloved NYT crossword puzzle. Among his many hobbies, Michael really enjoyed playing the lottery on a daily basis. Even though he never hit it big, his family and friends considered him one of the richest men they ever knew.
Michael was the only son of the late Michael and Frances (Kakolewski).
Michael leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Regina (née: Tanski) and his four children Jonathan Pinnel; Bryan Pinnel; Matthew Pinnel; and Alex Pinnel. He was blessed to become grandfather to two adorable granddaughters, Ellieanna and Soleil Rosalie, and was excited to meet his third in January 2021. He is also survived by his sisters Joanne Rempfer (née: Pinnel) and Marie Shade (née: Pinnel). He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the current COVID restrictions, services were privately held with immediate family in attendance. However, a luncheon will be held in his honor at a later date.
