Mary Ellen Post of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2021. Mary Ellen was born to E. Lynne and Dorothy (Clark) Post on July 17, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and grew up on the Post family farm in Algoma Township. Her education included a BS (Chemistry) and a PhD (Organic Chemistry) from Michigan State and Wayne State Universities, and a MS (Library and Information Science)
from Drexel University.

Predeceased by her brothers Merrill Post and Gene Post, and her sister Jane (Post) Christensen, Mary Ellen is survived by her sister-in-law Mildred (Merrill) Post, her sister-in-law Leona (Gene) Post. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Leonard (Jackie) Post, Janet Guru, Valinda Post, Jerry Post, Brian (Janelle) Post, Koren (Nancy King) Christensen, Eric (Heather) Christensen and Robert (Yvonne) Post; their beloved children and grandchildren; and other family members and cousins including the Clark cousins, Lois (Frank) Duiven, Harold (Janet) Clark and Carol (Gary) Timin.

Gardening indoors and out was one of Mary Ellen’s passions. In retirement, she volunteered in the development and maintenance of Overington Park (Frankford section, Philadelphia), for the Penn State Extension Service Master Gardeners (Philadelphia County) and in Horticulture at the Morris
Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mary Ellen cherished her cats, Moby and Angus. She will be remembered for her good friendship, her selflessness, humor and intelligence, and her sharing of her horticultural knowledge and passion. She was loved and will be missed by many.
