Mary C. Schoedler

Mary Catherine Smith Schoedler, age 77, passed away at home April 13, 2021.  She was born on October 6, 1943 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John Wade Smith and Sarah Elizabeth Durkin Smith. She had one sister, Sarah Smith Turner. They have all preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her loving husband George “Will” Schoedler, two wonderful children, Michael William Schoedler of Jamison, PA (Judy Meme), and Christine Schoedler Lavallie of Abington, PA (Shane Lavallie), and five extra special grandchildren, Laura Kunzman (Kevin Kunzman), Steven Schoedler, Gillon Lavallie, Chase Lavallie, and Christian Lavallie.

Mary graduated from Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove, PA and married her high school sweetheart, Will Schoedler.  She spent fifteen years as a customer service manager for a manufacturing company. She enjoyed the work because she enjoyed getting to know people and had the ability to make everyone feel welcome.  Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She was loving and kind to all she met.  In 1998, she and Will moved from Huntingdon Valley, PA to Little River, South Carolina for retirement. There she came to love the game of golf and continued her love of the beach. Mary served two terms on the River Hills Property Owners Association board as Board of Director. Her other hobbies included sewing and refinishing furniture. One of her biggest hobbies and interest was reading. She read hundreds of books; fiction and non-fiction. Her love of books led to her family suggesting she could tell you a little about everything. In 2018, she and Will moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. She was blessed and thankful for every new friend in South Carolina and long-time friends in Pennsylvania. Her wisdom, kindness, and strength will be forever remembered.
