John “Jack” Walter Terembula, of Philadelphia, born November 29, 1943, passed quietly August 13, 2020.
Dad was a graduate of Northeast Catholic HS of Philadelphia class of 1961. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served with honor in the Air Force, and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. He continued his service in the Air Force Reserves as Technical Sergeant with the 913 Airlift Wing based at Willow Grove Naval Air Station until retiring in 1990.
He worked for 20 years in the Philadelphia Sheriff’s office, until his retirement as a Deputy Sheriff Detective.
Dad saw the world, making friends everywhere he went. More than anything he loved food, particularly, eating every and all varieties, and seeming to never gain a pound from any of it. We will miss his stories about the many great meals he enjoyed in exotic places with his many “friends”.
After living his entire life in Northeast Philadelphia, his final residence was in the Villages at Pine Valley, where he lived with his beloved dog, Skye, who was always at his side. Jack is remembered as the kindest neighbor, always there to lend a helping hand, and keeping himself active as a driver, shopper, or errand runner for anyone who asked.
He is preceded in death by parents John and Camille (Schymanski), brother Mark, and partner Diane Shiuma.
He is survived by 3 children: John “JT” Terembula Jr, Karen Terembula (Rich McMullin), Kelli Terembula (John Lowe), 3 grandchildren: John Carl Terembula, Thorin Lowe, Rayden Lowe, former wife Kathleen (Cerkez), and 2 siblings: Arthur “Butch” (Joyce) Terembula and Camille (Jack) McDermott.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 21, 2020 at 10 AM, at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn St. Philadelphia. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.
