Joanne M. DiSipio

(nee Mensick), age 74, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in her home the morning of Sunday April 5th, 2020. Born August 22, 1945, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael DiSipio; survived by her devoted daughters Michelle Checchia (Antonio), Virginia Murphy (Daniel); her grandchildren Tony, Michael, Sophia, Matthew, Alexander, Caroline, and Hannah; brothers Joseph Mensick and Peter (MaryJane); brother-in-law Angelo (Susie), sister-in-law Frances; godsons Joe Mensick, Jim Leake and Christopher Mensick, her cousin Marianne Debuski (Steve), who felt more like a sister than a cousin, and close family friend Alicia Glenn (John), who was like a third daughter to her, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Joanne attended Nazareth Academy High School in Philadelphia, PA. She met the love of her life and was married to Michael for 48 years. She worked for many years at the Internal Revenue Service before retiring.

Joanne’s greatest legacy is her grandchildren, whom she was extremely proud of. Special events such as graduations, Communions, and Confirmations always brought her great joy and excitement, and she looked forward to sharing this upcoming Easter with her family.

Grammy followed all Philadelphia sports teams, and cherished sharing the experience of the Eagles first Super Bowl victory with her family. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan and closely followed their endeavors in football, cheerleading, dance, and music. Grammy was an avid viewer of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and the Pennsylvania Lottery, and an aficionado of Blackberry Brandy.

In addition to her late husband Michael, Joanne was predeceased by her brother-in-law Philip and sister-in-law Fran. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed Rest In Peace. The family will be holding Memorial Services at a later date.
