Joan M. Kozak, passed away peacefully on Monday May 7th 2018. She was 82.
Born in West Leisenring, PA, to Carl and Marybell (Ohler) Allman. She was a long time resident of Levittown, PA. Joan worked at Pennsbury Pottery, Morrisville, PA in the 1960’s as a painter. To this day Pennsbury Pottery’s work is considered Americana Folk Art. She was formerly employed at Fairless Hills Steel Mill as one of the first female laborers in the 1970’s. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Fairless Hills. She was also a member of the former St. Joseph the Worker Church in Fallsington where she actively supported the nuns at the convent.
Joan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Daniel E. Kozak; she was the beloved mother of the late Renee Kozak. Left to honor and remember Joan are her 5 children, Mark (Kathleen), Dianne, Joe (Annette), Daniel, Ilene (Michael) Addice; her 11 grandchildren and her 7 great-grandchildren.
Joan was the last of her siblings; the late Robert (Faye), the late Paul (Janie), the late Kathleen and the late Zelda (the late John) Davis and Daniel’s siblings, the late Emil and (the late Theresa), the late Josephine (the late John) Novak, the late Jean, the late Charlie (Alice) Kozak, Ceil (the late Al) Vitti, the late Joseph (Andria) Kozak, Marie (Daniel) Egnot.
Joan nourished people around her and was known for always making “extras” that she would take to her neighbors including her much sought after apple & blackberry pies, Old World Slovak rolls and Easter cheese. She enjoyed spending time with her family & neighbors and always loved to be with her grandchildren. Joan was a devout Catholic and prayed often; she had a fondness for children and loved the sound of laughter.
At Joan’s request, there will be no funeral services. A mass will be held in her honor at a future date.
