James L. Bergmark

James L. Bergmark, known to his family as “Pop” and to all others as Jim, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2017 at the age of 82 years.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Jim, as he was proud to say, was a Veteran of the United States Navy, a retired Philadelphia Police officer, and an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. After his career with the Philadelphia Police Department, Jim attended the Community College of Philadelphia and earned an Associates’ degree in Respiratory therapy and finished his working career as a Respiratory Therapist.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Essie (nee Kline), children Theresa (Rudy), Donna (Rene), Patricia, Lynne (Scott), James (Christine), and Stacy (Anthony), 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Jim, mother Edith, and brother Charles.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Monday July 3, 2017. Friends and family are invited to Saint Christopher’s Church 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116 for visitation beginning at 9:30 am with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 am. Jim will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
