James A. Waters, Sr.

On December 24, 2018 at 9:00 p.m., James A Waters Sr, lost his long fought battle against Lung Cancer.

Born in Pantego North Carolina, James defended our country as a member of the United States Navy. Shortly thereafter he continued his legacy of service by joining the Philadelphia Police force where he served the citizens of the city for 43 years.
James was a man of dedication who touched the souls of everyone that he met. He was always one to extend a hand to help and care for his fellow man. He will be missed by many.

At the Cancer Center, James was referred to as the mayor. This was due to the fact that he always reached out to staff and patients to brighten their day. Even while going through the fight of his life, he wanted to shine the light of his kindness on others. James brightened the lives of everyone that he met.

Whether he was installing a window for a neighbor, helping a stranded motorist or supporting somebody in emotional distress, James went all in. Nothing was too much to ask. Usually you didn’t even have to ask…he anticipated peoples’ needs and was already there extending his hand before you had a chance to ask.

Words alone cannot express the loss that will be felt without him around. James was a dedicated husband, father and friend.

James is survived by his wife Dolores son James Jr. , Grandsons James Patrick and Andrew Marino, Grandchildren Christianna Jackson and Thomas Fail, Brothers Johnny and Dwight, sister Carol Jean, Michael and Regina Pinnel and their respective families. James was preceded in death by his daughter Deanna Fail, who was married to Thomas Fail. Deanna and Tom provided James with 2 of his grandchildren Christianna and Thomas. Christi has recently delivered a wonderful baby boy, Brian. He is James’ first great grandchild.

Please join the Waters family after 6:00 pm Friday, December 28th at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating James’s life.
