Age: 68 Of Philadelphia
Charlene Yvonne Ethel Minus was born on September 18, 1950 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She was the second child born to the late Mr. Clarence Minus and the late Ms. Geraldine Smith. Charlene Minus was born and raised in her Christian faith at an early age.
She attended Child’s Elementary School, Shaw Jr. High and graduated in 1969. She continued her studies working in a myriad of professions that included nutrition/ home health for Penn State University in the 80s, child care, sous chef, recreational for the elderly and ultimately social service as a social worker for several agencies before retiring from PHA due to health-related issues. She would later suffer several strokes within the past ten years resulting in impairment in her ability to walk with use of assistance.
She struggled throughout the 80s with housing, employment, and limited supports while caring for a child before becoming stable in 1986 where she became briefly active with her faith and studies demonstrating the will to overcome various obstacles. She was a very committed, vibrant, strong, loving, selfless, provider who made a way while raising her son, Craig. She was a very uniquely different, creative, and artistic person who painted and made jewelry. She was one who enjoyed standing out with her wardrobe, wearing buttons, and a flower as a hair accessory. She sang, was involved in various communal activities and loved music of all genres collecting vinyl records helping to spawn in her son’s similar traits.
She went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 9, 2018. She is survived by her loving son Craig Minus and youngest sister Jade Minus, loving family and friends.
We, as her loved ones, will always miss her presence and words of wisdom. We know that she is with the Lord where there is no pain and sorrow. With a grateful heart, we thank the Lord for the time we were able to share with her. We pray that we be faithful in the Lord until we meet her again.
