Age: 78 of Philadelphia

Tony is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ellen Cozen Scarcelle; his sister, Marita Cywanowicz; and his ex-wife, Jane Torrerio. Tony is also survived by his four children and their families: Anthony J. Scarcelle III, Barbara Scarcelle and their children, Anthony IV, Alissandra and Jeffrey; Michael Scarcelle, Cricket Schaffer and their children, Stone and Blaize; Lisa Chanow Dykstra, David Rode and their children, Claudia, Dylan, Hailey, Carlin and Mason; and Murray Chanow, Linda Bray Chanow and their children, Samuel and Tobe. Tony is also survived by his nieces, Gina and Krista Cywanowicz.

Tony was born in South Philly and then moved to Upper Darby where he attended St. Alice’s School. The family then moved to West Chester, PA, where Tony attended Monsignor Bonner High School where he excelled at football and enjoyed playing baseball. From Bonner he went to The Valley Forge Military Academy and then onto Villanova University where he played college football and appeared in the Sun Bowl. He graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Business.

Tony worked for the John Deere Co and later ran a mechanics shop – T. S. Motors with his father and family in West Chester. After closing T.S. Motors he became an insurance adjuster for GAB and then for AIG until his retirement in 2007.

Tony participated in the West Chester community and was a little league coach. He and his family attended St. Simon and Jude Church. After Tony and Ellen were married and joined their beautiful families, they lived in Downingtown for almost 20 years. Tony was an avid sports fan and his favorite team was, of course, The Eagles, along with the Phillies. He also had a love of wildlife bird books and stamps.

Tony will be missed for his sense of humor, his wit, his generosity and his love for golf and love of life.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and the nurses and aides at Ambler Extended Care for their care and services.

A Memorial Service will take place on June 29th for his immediate family and close friends at the St. Joseph’s Retreat House in Malvern, PA where Tony went every Father’s Day for 46 years.
