Anthony Henson

“Tony”

Passed away on January 19, 2020 at the age of 79.

Tony was born in Philadelphia on December 10, 1940. He was an altar boy at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in North Philadelphia and attended West Philadelphia High School. Tony’s parents, Joseph A. Henson Sr. and Dorothy Agnes (Dorsey) Henson, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his brother Emanuel (Lonnie) Henson, and his two older brothers, Joseph A. Henson Jr. and Donald Henson, predeceased him. Tony was married to Linda (Coram) Henson, then to Michele (Stachowicz) Henson; he had 2 children by Linda and 4 children by Michele, was divorced from both, and had 6 grandchildren.

Tony grew up in North Philadelphia but lived in West Philadelphia since 1965. He owned and operated a bicycle repair and sales shop at 43rd and Locust Sts. in 1969, then on 41st St. and Baltimore Ave. from 1970 to 2004; he greatly enjoyed talking with customers about a wide variety of topics. He loved his Toyota Land Cruiser, off-road driving at the beach, fishing, music, basketball, fixing things, telling jokes, traveling, and talking to people from all walks of life.

Burial of ashes will take place at Merion Memorial Park, alongside other family members. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anthony’s name may be made to your favorite charity.
