Alan Pierre Kennedy, MHSA

Alan Pierre Kennedy died on Friday January 29 in Blue Bell, PA. He was 67 years old. Alan is survived by his loving wife Laurie and their two beloved sons, Michael (age 33) and Justin (age 29).

Alan was born on March 4, 1953 in Haverhill, MA. He is pre deceased by his parents, Pierre Jean Jacques Kennedy and Marilyn (Blethen) Kennedy. He is survived by his siblings, Eric (Boston, MA), Jane, (Chicopee, MA,) and Paul (Chicopee MA).

He received his Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology from Central Connecticut University (1980) and a Masters in Human Service Administration form Antioch College (1986).

Alan was a career executive in the healthcare industry primarily focusing on implementation and management of behavioral health/mental healthcare in Northeastern United States. He was employed by United Health Care for most of his career.

Alan was a man of great integrity and compassion. He was dedicated to advocating for children and families. He has had many accomplishments including assignment by the former Governor William O’Neil to the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Committee. He was also the past vice-president of the Connecticut Youth and Family Association and a prior Chairman of the Legislative sub-committee of the Connecticut Youth and Family Association.

 In more recent years, in the Pennsylvania area, he was appointed the Chairman of Montgomery County Youth Advisory Panel by the District Attorney and was also President of the Youth Aid Panel. Alan was also a board member for the InterFaith Housing Alliance for many years. Alan also was a baseball coach for many years in Whipain Township.

 Alan was a contented man in life. He loved his family beyond measure. He treasured extended family gatherings for many years in the Outer Banks. He loved nature, bird watching, hiking and was a prolific reader of political and historical biographies.

Private Cremation services were held on Thursday February 2, 2021 at the Delaware Valley Cremation Center. His ashes will be spread at Mountain of the Clouds in New Hampshire in the summer and also at sea off the Outer Banks this summer. A gathering will be held to honor his life on May 1, 2021 at our home.
