On Monday, January 18, 2021, Herbert Ray Mumper, surrounded by his family, peacefully went home to be with his Savior. He was born on March 2, 1939 to Cloyd and Beatrice Mumper. He was raised in Milton with his three brothers and two sisters. He met the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Nancy Joan Reynolds, while in high school in Milton. They moved to Hatboro in 1965 where they raised their four children. They later moved to Jamison in 1986 where they have lived ever since. Herb lovingly adored his children (and their spouses): Steven (Lisa) of Collegeville; Richard (Jeanne) of Santa Clarita, California; Crystale (Edward) of Jamison; and Mark (Maureen) of Quakertown. He dearly loved his seventeen grandchildren: Eric, Adam, Alec, Claudia (Christopher), Jordan, Joshua, Christina (Nick), Jared, Jason (Kathryn), Justin, Joel, Caleb, Mackenzie, Keegan, Chandler, Michael, and Jaqueline and four great grandchildren (Marlowe, Elijah, Mary Jane, and Stella). Herb loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his family.
Herb, whom his family affectionately called “Pop”, spent the majority of his career working in all facets of construction, mostly in Bucks and Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania. He was probably best known for his ability to operate excavation equipment. He owned and operated Mumper & Sons from the 1960’s until the middle 80’s. He also owned and operated a renovation company called M&S Enterprises that he ran until the early 90’s. He thoroughly enjoyed using his extensive construction and mechanical skills to help people in need. He would often stop to assist people during a busy workday. Herb left a powerful legacy of hard work. To those who knew him best he was a tenacious and committed worker, typically getting up at the crack of dawn and working all day, no matter the weather, never missing a day no matter how he felt. He loved building projects and he loved to work with people on those projects. Herb and Nancy (an interior designer) loved to work on new projects together in their home for their family and loved ones to enjoy with them. He also loved his second career in his 60’s as a big rig truck driver who got to enjoy traveling the entire United States and parts of Canada.
Herb’s memorial service will be private with his immediate family.
