In retirement, Ed pursued his life-long interest in American History, publishing a feature article in the Civil War Times Illustrated in 1998, and writing numerous other articles. He was a member of the Bucks County Civil War Roundtable. He loved the history and beauty of Bucks County, and was proud to have designed the road system for Washington’s Crossing Historic Park that is still used today.

In addition to his interest in historical research, teaching and writing, Ed travelled extensively throughout the world with his wife Catherine. He also loved the shore and spending summers with Catherine in Ocean City, NJ, enjoying sunsets on the Bay.
