December 31, 1981 – December 10, 2017
Doug is finally at peace. He passed away suddenly on December 10, 2017.
Those of us that knew Doug growing up knew him as a loving and caring person. A jack of all trades, Doug was very skilled with his hands. He was a jokester, always trying to get a laugh and usually at the expense of one of his siblings. He enjoyed sports and spending time with his friends. He truly had a heart of gold and would do anything he could to help.
And then, at some point, Doug made the decision to use drugs. The Doug we knew started to fade and the addiction took over. Over the years he sought treatment, but was never able to loosen the grip that the drugs had on his life.
I choose to remember the good times and not the bad. I will always remember Doug as my older brother. While he may have tortured me at times, he was always filled with love and light.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother Adele, his grandparents Attilio, Norma, Joseph and Marie, his aunts Marlene and Arlene, his cousin Jonathan.
He is survived by his daughter Kylie, his father Richard, his sister Andrea (Briana) Flanagan, his brothers Bud, Jeff and Greg (Angie) Parkinson, his brothers Richie (Wendi), David and Ken (Brian) Flanagan, and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
To help us remember the good times, we ask that you attend a memorial service which will be held on December 30, 2017 from 2 to 6 pm. Services will be held at The State Room, 7340 State Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
In lieu of sending flowers, memorials in Doug’s memory may be made for the benefit of his daughter, Kylie. Memorials can be made payable to the “Kylie Flanagan Fund” c/o Kenneth Flanagan and sent to TD Bank, 450 York Rd., Warminster, PA 18974. You may also visit any TD Bank branch location to contribute.
